Let Floor Coverings International – serving Winston Salem, Kernersville, Greensboro, and the surrounding areas – be your local solution for engineered hardwood flooring. Engineered hardwood is constructed using a core of 3-5 layers of hardwood that is then topped with a layer of hardwood veneer on the surface. This multi-layered, cross-grain configuration makes it very tough and stable.
Our team of flooring specialists is prepared to help you through the purchase, design, and installation of your new floors. We have many years and a wide range of experience under our belt, so you can trust us to be professional and knowledgeable about your flooring project.
Advantages & Disadvantages
Our customers love engineered hardwood flooring because it can be installed on any level of the home without warping or displaying weather damage. If you are trying to install hardwood in a damp or humid area of the home, or an area with radiant heating, engineered hardwood won’t expand, contract, or dry up.
On the other hand, engineered hardwood flooring is at a disadvantage when it comes to getting scuffs and scratches. Engineered hardwood can’t be refinished and re-sanded multiple times without wearing too thin or losing its quality. So, if you expect your hardwood floors will receive a lot of scrapes and scratches, then you should consider solid hardwood flooring instead.
We carry all of the major brands, common species, and styles of hardwood flooring. We even have some more exotic options like African and Brazilian species.
